Delhi - serving as the capital city of India - has been a centre of culture and heritage since ages. This ancient city is likely to host a huge event of world class entertainment with numerous colourful events and shows.

Overview

Declared as the biggest multi-sport event in India, CWG 2010 is going to organized first time in India and the second time in Asia (after 1998). The estimated budget for the respective event exceeds US $ 1.6 billion, which does not include the non-sports related infrastructure development like airports, roads and other structures. The opening ceremony for this 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games will take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The best part lies in the accommodation, transportation, security, energy consumption and other factors that are highlighted for the ease of over 2 million foreign tourists and 3.5 million domestic tourists that are likely to arrive in Delhi in 2010. All the athletes and sports officials from all the participating 71 countries will be provided with free accommodation in the Commonwealth Games Village, being developed at NH-24, near Akshardham Temple.

Another major feature added to the CWG is the ‘Tourist Police’. This unit will be appointed to take care of the security issues of tourists, especially women.

For recreation, all the athletes and sports officials will also be provided with a free trip to the wonder monument Taj Mahal in Agra.
